Transparency and Communication

Hello, I am Brian Laskowski the Editor-in-Chief for the Red Cedar Log for the 2009 school year. I am founding this blog to serve as a tool to provide a dialogue between the editorial staff and the students of MSU to whom we are ultimately accountable to. My background with the Red Cedar Log is substantial.

In 2006-2007 I began work with the RCL as a staff photographer, and in the 2007-2008 year I worked as both a staff photographer and the assistant photography editor before attaining my current position. I am currently studying journalism here at Michigan State with a hope to work as a photojournalist in the field.

This year we are looking to really expand the RCL. We hope to get our name out to more students to raise awareness of the book, as well as launch a new web site to host content ranging from written stories to multimedia content.

The 2008 yearbook will be hitting bookstores and our distribution racks located across campus this August. We hope to be able to distribute all 18,000 copies to the student body.

Right now we are handling the bid process by which we choose who we will pay to print the book, who we will choose to take the senior photography, and who will work to provide ads for the 2009 yearbook. Once we have chosen our contractors we will begin in ernest to plan the 2009 book.

We are looking to have a great year, providing the students with another award winning book as well as high quality journalism.
