I would like to announce the Red Cedar Log Fellowship program. The program outline is as follows:
The Red Cedar Log Fellowship is a program dedicated to promoting quality journalism at Michigan State University. The program seeks individuals or groups who are working on high quality journalism during their tenure at Michigan State University.
Students or groups may apply for this fellowship starting the first day of classes until the day before Thanksgiving Break. The Red Cedar Log will then choose the recipient of the fellowship by no later than the last day before finals in December.
The Red Cedar Log will award one fellowship each year, worth one thousand dollars to be used by the recipient to work on their project. The recipient will have to finish the project and publish their material by the beginning of the following year. Any individual student may win the award once as an undergraduate, once as a graduate student, or once every two years for student groups.
Published material is requested to receive a byline, or acknowledgement in the publication to Red Cedar Log as the sponsoring news source.
To apply send to the Red Cedar Log an application and an essay explaining your project and why you should receive the award. Highlight why the story is of importance and is newsworthy, or why the project is contributing to journalism at MSU.
The Editorial Staff of the Red Cedar Log will judge applications and select the winner. If you receive the award you will then have to also create an expected expense sheet, highlighting how the money will be spent.
Return all applications to 311B in the Student Services Building.
Applications are available by email request, and soon on our web site.

Time Flies
Well its been a while since my last post and my has time flown. Since then we have hired a full staff, covered over half of our events for this semester, and taken a trip to the Jostens manufacturing plant to observe their facilities and yearbook production.
We are currently working to prepare content for the web in the form of stories, photo galleries, and audio slideshows. We hope to have this running shortly, check back for updates.
